Metvuw is often more accurate than Metservice, sometimes not accurate at all, but generally gives a reasonable idea of how much wind to expect The Norwegian weather forecasting service does a surprisingly good job of predicting local weather. Search for your own local places and the web site will store them in a cookie ready for your next visit. |

Model Flying New Zealand promotes and manages model aircraft flying in New Zealand. MFNZ does a load of great stuff, including sending a magazine to members five times each year. Members also benefit from third-party insurance for their model-flying activities.

Alan Tong's web site has a link to just about everything to do with model aircraft. There are hundreds and hundreds of links, which must have taken him a lifetime to assemble.

There's a ton of information on the EFAA web site, helpful to novices and people who've flown their models round the block a time or two.

RC Universe magazine has many articles about all sorts of stuff. Greg Covey has written this nice, easy-to-follow explanation of how to sort out the motor and power train your model really needs.

The Watt's Up meter is a really handy tool, and several club members have one. This link is to the user manual on the maker's web site. In the manual is a load of useful stuff about the basics of electric power. Well worth a read, even if you don't have one of the meters.

Some bits and pieces
The Civil Aviation Authority publishes a bi-monthly magazine called "Vector". The September/October 2013 edition has an article about model aircraft.
